// January 13th, 2010 // No Comments » // Events, Skin Love

Like us girls, we all have basic necessities that actually go beyond the basic. We know that simple things can help us get through and make life worthy living, but the kikay in us on the other hand is kind of killing our conscience and therefore we seek perfection.

And in beauty, we all share the same qualms, just like a little froufrou here and there won’t kill us. One of the many reasons why I frequent The Podium, haha! Do check out the details and see you there!

Sweet Escape

Uhh! Stretching definitely made me feel better, not to mention the jump! (haha!)

Uhh! Stretching definitely made me feel better, not to mention the jump! (haha!)

Impromptu outings, unlocking my “password protected” self and just go with the flow, breaking my routine and simply do something different – these are part of my blissful existence now.

These days, I’ve been to several places without so much planning at hand. Maybe 2009 was really a year for me to be out and about, be it alone or with my ever reliable friends to hangout with.

The experience was undoubtedly fun and definitely a breather away from chaotic and complicated life here in Manila.

I’m off to La Union and will try surfing for the first time. I am uber excited with the thought: hanging out with friends, meeting new people, boy watching on the side *wink*, the beach and the emotional sunset.

A few weeks back, before I went out of town, I bought a sunscreen for my sensitive skin. Sometimes, it gets annoying though looking for products for sensitive skin, aside from it’s hard to find and you have to read a lot of dos and don’ts, it’s also too pricey. I finally said goodbye to my derma’s sunblock gel (too pricey now for a small tube) and said hello to VMV Armada Face Cover 45.

Although the formula looks like a heavy cream, it was so natural (no artificial scent) and not sticky at all once applied. Unlike other sunblock that I’ve used, this gave me a powdery finish and definitely no more “kabuki” face! Look Ma! ;-)

Look Ma! ;-)

This can also be used as a primer before applying make-up, a bestseller indeed from VMV! While some products are on sale up to 70% off until December 15, this piece of goodness is not! Grrr!

Next must have is a breathable and quick drying Rashguard! Suggestions please? I was thinking of buying either a short or half sleeve one.

Common Sis, knock on a few doors as well and enjoy! Life is good. *wink*

Some Organic Skin love With Skin Hour!

// June 11th, 2008 // 2 Comments » // Skin Love

Charlene Lu, a friend of mine, has gone a long way, since the moment I met her when she first tried mineral makeup, then went on pursuing makeup artistry ( and being good at it ), selling mineral makeup and brushes, and now, launching her own skin care line! This beauty maven makes me proud! And I am more than happy to present to you her skin care line, Skin Hour.

Clean and Clear Blotting Paper, Now in Grapefruit!

// January 30th, 2008 // 1 Comment » // Sale Alert!, Skin Love

Clean and Clearhas been my favorite blotting paper brand as of late. Aside from being able to blot away my skin’s oiliness twice a day, it doesn’t remove the makeup that I have on. I was able to try a variant that was sold in the US called “Morning Burst” that smelled quite delightful and cheerful, not too overpowering, so imagine to my absolute glee when I saw this on TV,

Facial Wash, and Sunblock, In One!

// January 25th, 2008 // No Comments » // Skin Love

UVwash’s secret (or not so secret anymore) ingredient is Aquea SPF imported from the United States. According to Aquea Scientific, the company who manufactured Aquea SPF, this ingredient “enhances ordinary liquid soap or shampoo with both UVA and UVB protection.” Moreover, “Aquea SPF leaves the user with a virtually undetectable shield, as it lacks the greasy film commonly associated with sunscreen.”

I got curious about this when my friend Crissy tipped me on this product – UVwash. It’s supposed to be a facial wash that does not only cleanse your skin, but also preps you for the day by giving you the much-needed SPF, just by washing your face! Talk about convenience!

I know, it’s such an effort to wake up in the morning , take a shower, wash your face, then do your usual skin care regimen of cleanse, tone, moisturize ( lucky, if it has SPF ), then apply makeup. With this facial wash, it promises to skip a step for you, as you are ensured a whole day’s worth of skin protection. Say goodbye to sun damage, potential freckles, and wrinkles in the long run. No need to hide from the sun anymore! Yay!

Well, has anyone tried this? I’d love to hear some feedbacks. I know for a fact that it’s very hypoallergenic as it is affiliated with a renowned skin care company in the country!

To get UVwash, more information can be found here.

Give Your Skin Some EVCO Lovin` With Nutrizen

// January 9th, 2008 // 1 Comment » // Body Love, Skin Love

Last year, during bazaar season, I was able to bump into an old client of mine, Emily, and found out that her family’s into the beauty business, as well! I bumped into her during the Wack Wack Yuletide Blessings Bazaar and La Vista Bazaar as she and her siblings were manning a stall there that sold Nutrizen products.

And then of course, the curious kikay cat, me, started asking tons of questions.

Nutrizen turned out to be a company that exports virgin coconut oil based products abroad, and also sell some of their products here. I picked up a very wonderfully scented Tea Tree Oil Shampoo and Conditioner from them, but lost it somewhere. * sniff *. In effect, I bought a bottle of Tea Tree Oil Shampoo to test it again ( review, to follow ). How could I resist? The scent is just too minty that I love it so much. Any minty shampoo entices me.

Yes, supplements for Stress help!

I might be the biggest whiner during the Holidays , but hey, I still love it anyway. The weather’s so chilly, it feels great, I’ve been longing to cuddle with a book and watch DVDs as soon as I get my much needed time off from work. But you know, during the Holidays , there are so much stress vibes that are just everywhere! Stress from work – total burnout, I swear, stress from preparing and organizing parties, and stress from shopping.

A kikay girl like me has observed some stress in the name of beauty, too. Here are some of my observations :

1. Skin breaking out lately.
More than two girl friends of mine have had really bad breakouts lately. Call it Holiday stress. Blame the Holidays! Rar! ( No, just kidding ). No sleep, restless from coming up with a shopping list, beating the holiday traffic, and nonstop partying. With me, working 7 days a week paved way for this catastrophic event.

L’Oreal Revitalift Double Lifting Gel/Cream

// October 8th, 2007 // 1 Comment » // Skin Love

A new skin care product is in the market, and it is specifically targeted for individuals to seek anti-aging skin care – the L’Oreal Revitalift Double Lifting Gel + Cream. I have actually tried something like this before – L’Oreal’s, but I think it was for skin whitening. It works in a way that as you pump,two chambers have some product pumped out of them, as you apply them both in the face for best results.

Holiday Kikay Kit Must-Have : Blotting Paper

// October 5th, 2007 // No Comments » // Acne Busters, Skin Love

Alot of friends have been asking me what I use to retouch. What is usually mentioned are the usuals – a good blot powder, finishing powder, or some illuminizer swept using a retractable brush. But the obsessive compulsive kikay in me can’t help it but give my friends an unsolicited advice in the midst of their question.

Do get some blotting paper or tissue in your purse before retouching!!!

Cold Weather Skin and Body Care Regimens

// September 26th, 2007 // 1 Comment » // Foot Love, Lip Love, Skin Love

As the weather gets colder, the air gets drier, as our skin does, too. Let’s all keep our skin soft and smooth with these beauty products , and welcome the party-fest ber months with a bang!

Hand Cream – Keep hands baby smooth and silky by using a hand cream! I just discovered this recently, and I regret that I haven’t discovered this sooner! Get a good hand cream that won’t give you a sticky feel as the day progresses.

The Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Hand Cream works well for the day, and Bath and Body Works Hand Cream in Lavender, I may suggest to be used before bedtime to further relax the hands, paired with a massage ( after all, the hands get exhausted, too, but aren’t too noticeable ! ) (more…)
