L’Oreal Elseve Hair Products Are Love!

| February 1st, 2008 | Hair Love

It’s been months since I’ve first tried L’Oreal Elseve hair products and I must admit that I’ve been raving about them nonstop. I’ve started with trying the Color Vive , their variant for coloured hair that has sun protection, to trying the Anti-Breakage Line , and lastly, their Smooth Intense line for dry and frizzy hair.

As others might know me, I have been an avid fan of Kerastase ( my one and only favorite hair care brand in the whole wide world, if there weren’t any budget constraints tied with on my belt? haha! ), and I have been hearing raves about the L’Oreal Elseve Hair Care Line that it is comparable to Kerastase. One thing I know is that - L’Oreal Professionel products don’t come close to Kertastase from experience, so I was a little bit skeptic that a consumer line , that is 3x priced lower than Kerastase can do so much.

I’ve reviewed some of the L’Oreal Elseve products for our fellow kikay’s reading,
Elseve Color Vive Color Protecting Conditioner
Elseve Smooth Intense Hair Masque

Bottomline? I think L’Oreal Elseve hair products don’t really perform just like Kerastase, but they perform pretty well that leaves me impressed. For the price, it already exceeds my expectations and it is a joy to have Elseve products around for everyday use! They are the closest things, really. Two products that I would strongly recommend is the Smooth Intense Hair Masque and the Smooth Intense Serum. The Smooth Intense Hair Masque is perfect for smoothing frizzy hair and keeping frizzies at bay ( I’d recommend to use it everyday as a conditioner, haha! ), and the Smooth Intense Serum is a miracle product that saved my life several times as it made my hair really sleek, manageable, and silky.

My fellow kikays, have you tried Elseve? How did it fare to you? I’d love to know!

  2. roxygirl says:

I love the smooth intense serum. I just had my hair rebonded and it gives my hair that ‘just stepped out of the salon’ look. And its wayyy cheaper than Kerastase.

i love the Elseve Smooth Intense line as well, though I haven’t tried using the Hair Masque ( but after reading you post, I must use it as well!) Im using the shampoo, conditioner and serum and it is such a miracle! promise! Plus, the smell is so fresh, especially the serum…I swear, this is the only hair care line that exceeds my expectations! Not like any other imported brands that just leaves your hair more frizzy, dry and dull…. Elseve’s the best! Must use it!!!

  4. fly_away says:

    the serum smells like watermelons!
    it fits my budget too!
    but just wondering…..
isn’t l’oreal the mother company of kerastase?

  5. kheem says:

Didn’t work on my hair, maybe because my hair is really damaged..hahaha..my hair is hopeless!

  6. grace says:

I’ve used the smooth-intense conditioner and masque and both worked well on my hair. Now, I’m thinking of buying a different variant for my hair that’s just been 2-week relaxed done by a well-known salon. They advised me to buy Keratase oleo-relax as a maintanance. It’s a product of Loreal also but it’s much more expensive..

  7. mitun says:

thanks for the info. does elseve help to protect hairfalls?

  8. Beia says:

L’Oreal Elseve does what it has written on the bottle/tub. Works excellently for me! Smooth, frizz free, not dry, and no dandruff. Never going back to other shampoos and conditioners. It may be a little steep on the budget but it sure is a great buy!

FYI – L’Oreal actually owns Kerastase. I haven’t actually tried Elseve, but would love to; however, we don’t have that line in the States. Drat!

Hi Sophie! I am from Canada and I’ve asking Loreal in an email about why there arent any Elseve products on the market in Canada. They didnt respond, which was very “nice”.The thing Id like to ask you is do you know anything about why we cannot purchase Loreal Elseve here in Canada? If you happen to know:)Ive tried it in Europe and fell in love with it just like you.

i think L’oreal Elseve Smooth Intense does their job fairly well. I can never remember a “bad hair day” since I started using the conditioner, shampoo and the serum. Although it does make your hair weigh down, but over all it is good. I was a bit hesitant to buy it since it is twice as expensive as my sunsilk conditioner, but I did. And I did not regret it. Two thumbs up. It’s a very good product. (Next to Kerastase, of course. =D)

COLOR VIVE – the best of the bunch! makes my colored & damaged hair healthier, smoother, and noticably more manageable, as well as a little bit shinier.

NUTRI GLOSS – doesnt make the hair healthy, but it DOES make your hair soooooo shiny!!! the masque and the daily treatment really works after just one use.

RE-NUTRITION – this is a little tricky. My hair became noticably less dry and more hydrated. however, i straighten my hair everyday, and the re-nutrition collection made my hair have annoying flyaways because of the static caused by the heat of my straightener plus the royal jelly ingredient. However if u dont straighten ur hair often, then this is perfect for u, bcos it hydrates ur hair incredibly well.

SMOOTH-INTENSE – i hate the smell. makes ur hair visibly less dry.

DAMAGE CARE – the damage reconstructor is a miracle worker! i use it only when i notice my hair getting damaged or a lot drier, and this product cures my hair, so to speak. Use it maybe once a month, or only when your hair needs an immediate SOS care.

Guys, how much po ba kerastase? I’ve seen them in salons but I haven’t asked about them. Seeing these reviews made me curious. Kasi I’d like to try Bonacure Hair repair, has anyone tried this? Which is better po Bonacure or Kerastase?

  19. Steph says:

I am asian and have a natural brownish black, slightly wavy hair. I had a Loreal cataplasme hair treatment two weeks ago to treat my fuzzy hair. My hair root tips were hydrated and lead to less itchy scalp and my hair smoothened a bit. My hair was getting dull again then I tried the Elseve Smooth-Intense Shampoo and Conditioner tonight like any shampoo and conditioner for my new hair regime. My hair is softer and shinier at first use…I’ll be monitoring it later this month. I love it! P175 for 200ml shampoo and P185 for 200ml conditioner. The price is double the price of some local shampoo brands, which do not work well for me — one causes dandruffs; another one dries my hair up.

  26. Barlowgirl says:

Im trying to search online on how the elseve anti breakage leave on conditioner works. So far ive dumped more than the directed 2 drops on my hair. doesnt seem to work wonders for me. My hair still looks ‘poofy’. without using a flat iron, what product out there works?! help!

  27. tina says:

hi guys, i’ve tried the elseve serum for about a week now and i’m disappointed of the result i got. it made my hair sticky after the day’s over. my hair is actually naturally smooth and super straight so i am a bit confused why the product turned out bad for me.

  28. elsie says:

fyi kerastase is under the company of l’oreal. :D

  29. Nish says:

Hi there. My hair are very dry and very curly. i actually use the smooth intense shampoo, conditioner and mask…They are a wonder for my hair. What i would like to know is there any “detox scalp” as in kerastase in the ELseve? and anything for damaged ends.
I am from Mauritius Island any idea also where i can get that because i dont know who supplies Elseve here…
    Thank you =)

  30. grace says:

Hi. Been using Smooth intense (Bronze packaging) and Damage care (yellow packaging) conditioner and masque alternatively for two years since i had my hair relaxed. They perform satisfactorily at a reasonable price. My hair is repaired using damage care and smooth and satin soft using smooth intense.

  31. grace says:

oh yes by the way, i agree that kerastase is also a loreal product.
