Holiday Kikay Kit Must-Have : Blotting Paper

leave a response

Alot of friends have been asking me what I use to retouch. What is usually mentioned are the usuals - a good blot powder, finishing powder, or some illuminizer swept using a retractable brush. But the obsessive compulsive kikay in me can’t help it but give my friends an unsolicited advice in the midst of their question.

Do get some blotting paper or tissue in your purse before retouching!!!

They must be one of the most inexpensive items in your kikay kit, but the blotting papers sure do their job just right - in preventing your skin to break out into acne ville.

I know that loose powders just do the trick in doing the retouch to your face that makes the face looks flawless and perfect once again, but when loose powder binds with the existing dirt and oil already in the skin - it clearly spells disaster. The number one rule in applying makeup is to apply makeup on clean skin - and you just can’t wash your face again in the middle of an engagement or party to do your makeup again. Perhaps, the closest thing to hygiene and protecting your skin from breaking out and forming acne, would be the blotting paper, as it absorbs the oil in your skin, as you can retouch on matte, oil-free skin, that is better than not blotting.

I remember in highschool - I was so crazy about Gatsby’s blue oil blotting sheets, as the price skyrocketted from around 30 to 40 bucks a pack to a hundred bucks already. Your blotting paper need not be the blue, and elastic one, even the thin sheets of blotting paper by Bench are really, really great.
