Holiday Kikay Kit Must-Have : Red Lipstick

| October 3rd, 2007 | Lip Love

It’s officially party season as people are preparing for the festive holidays to come! I think that you, my readers, have been grabbing their purses, and bags with kikay kits in them almost every week to attend parties or get together with friends. We here at Kikay Kits will do a series on what beauty products would deem a must-have in your kikay kits now that you are partying the night away every weekend!

For our first item, we have the red lipstick.

With the weather getting colder, I have noticed that my tan has definitely faded, and despite my dismay, I try to adjust my skin tone to the cosmetics that I apply. With my newfound pale valor, what’s a greater way to spice up, and warm the face? A red lipstick.

Why would red lipstick be a must-have in the kikay kit? It’s warm, it’s vivacious, lovely, and gorgeous! It’s the perfect holiday color. You wouldn’t be needing extremely flamboyant eye makeup to look great – red lips thrive in au naturelle eyes and cheeks, and it means low maintenance – all you need are your rred lips and you’re ready to party!

A great red lipstick that I have tried is L’Oreal’s Color Riche in Flaming Red – the color is not too dark and matte, and not too sheer as well. It also does not dry my lips, which is a big factor since the lips are all that the people see when you sport this kind of look . Just a tip prior to grabbing your red lipstick and running off to your rendezvous – lightly scrub your lips with your toothbrush to get rid of the dead skin cells – you don’t want to mix red with chapped lips – feathery disastro!

^^Hi! To make finding the right shade of red lipstick easier, just pick a true red shade. One that flatters any complexion and will look good on anyone. A true red has no distinct undertones. Other lipsticks have either blue or yellow undertones which only suit specific skin tones.

The red lipstick I’m using is a true red and it’s Mary Kay Creme Lipstick in Red. Check it out at: http://marykayco.multiply.com/journal

The best thing about it is that it doesn’t contain lead, so it is safe to use on your lips, unlike other lipsticks.
