After applying eyeshadows ( or before, for that matter, as some makeup artists do prefer that way ), comes lining the eyes. Lining the eyes is one of those miracle moments for me when my bare eyes actually become defined, become bigger, and the colors of my eyes pops out depending on the color!
I just want to say…eyeliners are kikay miracles!
I mean for those who watch Grey’s Anatomy - Callie Torres is always wearing eyeliner, and I almost could not recognize her when she is not wearing it. Love the power that her eyeliner gives. The vibe is soo…ferocious and strong!
The best eyeliners for smoky eyes are Kohl Pencil Eyeliners. They smudge pretty easily that gives off the “smoky effect”. Just be sure that their lasting power is good so as not to smudge too much that it all becomes a dirty look. A little smudging via the shading brush would not be bad.
With the phobia of pencil eyeliners that I have ( since I’m afraid to apply pressure to my lashline for that matter ), I have an alternative - the gel liner. The gel liner is not as “wet” as the liquid eyeliner, but the liquid eyeliner would not fare really well with the smoky eye look if you want some smudge-galore - it would not smudge ( please correct me if I am wrong, I am speaking from personal experience ), but liquid eyeliner looks lovely on non-smoky eye looks! The gel liner feels like clay, and when applied, is somewhat cream or a bit dry, almost like a buttery crayon. It can be smudged a little bit by the shading brush, and most gel liners , like the MAC Fluidlines or Smashbox’s Cream to Powder Eyeliner can stay on for a long, long time!
Just a tip : For those with lovely almond-shaped eyes, feel free to line your eyes to the fullest, and up to the rim of your eyes. For those who have smaller eyes, do not do that! Follow the area where your lash grows, and start the line there, not from the inner V area of your eyes. Then, as you finish your line ( on the upper lash line ) , draw a line going upwards, like a “wing” on your lashline. It makes your eyes look bigger!
