The month long Kikay Kits contest has come to an end and I’m very very happy with the things I’ve read from each of the girls who have joined the contest. Here are some excerpts,
I guess till the end of the world…men would still never understand why we go through all the trouble of all of these…Of finding that perfect balance between too much and enough…Of having to put on make up for hours just to look natural…Of having our hair rebonded, dyed, permed, highlighted/lowlighted… of having our foot and hands manicured and pedicured spa’ed and parafinned… or of going through hours and hours scouring the racks of Mango or Zara just to look for the greatest finds…They may grumble about it… complain to high heavens or act as if waiting for us at the salon was the greatest tragedy that ever befell them… But in the end… seeing the looks on their faces right when we go out the door for a gimmick … We don’t need words… We just know that the 1 hour bath…The battle with the hairdryer and the mascara from Shu Uemura was all worth it! - Princessandi
A KIKAY refers to a person groomed inside out. Therefore, a KIKAY person does not limit herself to be conscious solely on her looks but also conscious on her ways, actions, and speech towards oneself and to other people. KIKAYS know how to deal with people in various situations without compromising their beliefs and values system. KIKAYS are open minded trying to extend their understanding even to certain people who exhaust their patience. KIKAYS know how their acts may affect other people and thus they are very careful during decision making. They are creative as well assertive types of people. They are vocal on their beliefs but not on the expense of other people. KIKAYS also make mistakes but sees to it that it has become a learning experience. They may undergo many hardships in life but they NEVER give up because they knew that there is a SUPREME BEING helping and guiding here all the time.- Kristinaluvspie
Part of a Kikay girl’s lifestyle includes not just good health but also a good dose of self-esteem. You are beautiful and unique, and never forget that. Too often, society has forced on us on what beautiful should be: fair skin, a size 8 figure, long flawless super straight hair and double D breasts, most of which isn’t possible without the use of expensive and dangerous surgery or good Photoshop skills. It doesn’t matter if you’re less than five feet high, morena, your nose is pango and you wear a size 18 dress (no matter how much you exercise or diet); love yourself, and confidence–not to mention sexiness–will surely follow. - Vyastanya.
i have been often and labelled as, “kikay” .If you think i will deny that, you are mistaken.
Im proud to be one. I love to dress up, play around with my mineral makeup, and do girly stuffs such as going to the parlor and getting luxurious massages. Heck, i even put on makeup even in the house. I was asked more than once, ” joyce, punta ka ba sa prom?” - Rhumbafrapp
These wise words of kikayness makes me all the more to be proud of being kikay, for it just proves that being kikay is not a thing of superficiality. It is also something that defines who you are, and somehow, gives a sense of fulfillment in living life. I’m proud to say that there are alot of girls who walk the earth not being afraid to be jeered at and be called “maarte” for being kikay, as they stand by what they believe in and be happy in what they do. I am kikay. I fuss over my makeup everyday. I scrutinized my eyebrows closely, and I make sure I have everything I need in my cosmetic purse. Most of all, I am not afraid to show it , because being kikay makes me happy, fills my soul with such esteem that it makes me do wonderful things, and helps me accomplish given the confidence that I have gifted myself with.
