Burt’s Bees, one of my essential kikay products

| August 14th, 2010 | Nail Love

Burt’s Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream gives your deprived nails a helping hand. It nurtures and moistens nails and cuticles with this rigorous, natural therapy. It has a touch of lemon oil that makes your nails smell incredibly clean, healthy and beautiful, naturally.

Burts Bees

One of my favorite product is Burt’s Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream. This is one of my staples. It’s very useful especially for someone who gets hang nails or who doesn’t have a regular manicure (like me). It also gives an instant moisture on your finger tips or toe nails that makes it look like you just had manicure or pedicure.

One pot costs around Php 385 and you can get it at any Beauty Bar store. So far my pot of Burt’s Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream has been with me for 2 years even when used occasionally.

My Shoe Story

| August 6th, 2010 | Fashion

Few days ago, I remember my husband’s post about footwear and I am convinced that women do really have more pairs of shoes than men. Why is it so? Simply because we, women (most… if not some), are more fashion conscious. Our shoes must match with our clothes, belts and bags.

My husband is very particular on shoe brand and quality and he only trusts brands like Rockport, Bass, Nike, Adidas, Umbro, etc. Yep, these are worth thousands of pesos but he only buys them once in a blue moon. He says it’s worthy to buy shoes that’s 5k+ if it’ll last for 5 years. He claims he’s more practical (in my vocabulary it means "kuripot") than me. Yeah, yeah…

On the other hand, I am more particular with style and comfort. I’m not fond of closed and flat shoes (except for sneakers and trail shoes). I prefer shoes that have AT LEAST 3-inch heels because I’m vertically challenged and my husband is too tall for me.

I just arrived  from the U.S. last July 10 and I got 3 new pairs of shoes. I now have more than a dozen pairs of shoes… 20 to be exact. That makes me a "shoe person" than a "bag person". I guess it runs in the family.

Lewis & Pearl Says: The Real You Rocks!

| June 12th, 2010 | Contests

It’s not easy growing up. Things seem to transform overnight—priorities change, toys get old and boys get interesting, new responsibilities appear and clothes all of a sudden don’t fit right. Add to that the world’s expectations about how a girl is supposed to look, act and be, and you end up with a time of your life that seems less fun than it is frustrating.

Like us girls, we all have basic necessities that actually go beyond the basic. We know that simple things can help us get through and make life worthy living, but the kikay in us on the other hand is kind of killing our conscience and therefore we seek perfection.

And in beauty, we all share the same qualms, just like a little froufrou here and there won’t kill us. One of the many reasons why I frequent The Podium, haha! Do check out the details and see you there!

I Am Wearing Pink!

| December 14th, 2009 | Kikay Gadgets

Hello Sisses,

Did I mention that lappy tappys nowadays, especially Netbooks are sporting nail polish like colours?

jing-sony

Take a look at this Sony Vaio W. She looks like so prim and proper in her hot pink shade.

Classy and fashionable, very much Sony indeed.

See specifications of Sony Vaio W series here.

jing_lenovoS10-2

Star light, star bright, who is shiny shimmering tonight?

See how posh this Lenovo S10 series is? This sweetie pie, for almost the same specifications as above is relatively cheaper. You may check this out for complete specifications.

Before you get down to business my dearest, think how ultra portable these new babies are. It’s about time to paint the town in pink! (ha ha!)

Sweet Escape

| December 10th, 2009 | Kikay Thoughts, Skin Love

Uhh! Stretching definitely made me feel better, not to mention the jump! (haha!)

Uhh! Stretching definitely made me feel better, not to mention the jump! (haha!)

Impromptu outings, unlocking my “password protected” self and just go with the flow, breaking my routine and simply do something different – these are part of my blissful existence now.

These days, I’ve been to several places without so much planning at hand. Maybe 2009 was really a year for me to be out and about, be it alone or with my ever reliable friends to hangout with.

The experience was undoubtedly fun and definitely a breather away from chaotic and complicated life here in Manila.

I’m off to La Union and will try surfing for the first time. I am uber excited with the thought: hanging out with friends, meeting new people, boy watching on the side *wink*, the beach and the emotional sunset.

A few weeks back, before I went out of town, I bought a sunscreen for my sensitive skin. Sometimes, it gets annoying though looking for products for sensitive skin, aside from it’s hard to find and you have to read a lot of dos and don’ts, it’s also too pricey. I finally said goodbye to my derma’s sunblock gel (too pricey now for a small tube) and said hello to VMV Armada Face Cover 45.

Although the formula looks like a heavy cream, it was so natural (no artificial scent) and not sticky at all once applied. Unlike other sunblock that I’ve used, this gave me a powdery finish and definitely no more “kabuki” face! Look Ma! ;-)

Look Ma! ;-)

This can also be used as a primer before applying make-up, a bestseller indeed from VMV! While some products are on sale up to 70% off until December 15, this piece of goodness is not! Grrr!

Next must have is a breathable and quick drying Rashguard! Suggestions please? I was thinking of buying either a short or half sleeve one.

Common Sis, knock on a few doors as well and enjoy! Life is good. *wink*

Levi’s Denim Drive: Goodbye Old, Hello New!

| December 6th, 2009 | Kikay News, Update

My very first Levi’s Jeans was a Christmas gift from the boy back in 2000ish, bought from Levi’s boutique in Alabang Town Center. I have outgrown most of my jeans, but not this one. It was comfortable and fits well, low rise and sit slightly below my waist.

My old 577 is 25 x 28, and I still wear it during (feeling *wink*) skinny days! With Levi’s, I felt like I found my perfect match that everytime I shop for jeans, my first stop is to check what’s new at Levi’s store.

This holiday, I was touched to see one of my faves became charitable and honour World Vision Foundation Inc. Phils. World Vision is a Christian relief, development and advocacy organisation dedicated to working with children, families and communities to overcome poverty and injustice.
SDC10004-revSo, before this day ends, I will try my best to look for my old oversized jeans (err, not my 577) and reward myself with a brand new 501 Boyfriend cut at Php500 off!

Yes, that’s how we do things, right Sisses? We REWARD ourselves. Consider yourself healed after this shopping experience. *double wink*

So what’s the latest in the Geek Community?

Last November 19 HP unveiled its latest fashion Netbook, the HP Mini Studio Tord Boontje edition. This limited edition has a very stylish top cover that uses HP 3D Imprint technology to achieve the layered effect to the design.

• 1GB RAM
• 10.1-inch display
• 250GB HDD

HPMiniStudiBoontjeWMeriamYes, I know that the specs are very basic compared to other Netbooks available in the market today, but would you mind the specs much if what you wanted is the uber admiration of male hottie geeks out there staring on you because of your limited edition stylish lappy tappy? Besides, Boontje’s studio has developed a variety of products and furniture pieces for diverse clients like Alexander McQueen and Swarovski.

Oh common, tell me now. Hmmm…

Green and Pure with Pureology

| November 20th, 2009 | Hair Love, Natural Stuff, New Stuff!

Dear Sisses,

Have you ever thought about going green; like recycling materials to save Mother Earth and become vegetarian for a change? What changes have you made to go green then?

I never thought that I’d contribute this soon in the simplest way possible, until a friend introduced me to this new hair care product that was just recently launched. Among the Bears (that’s how we address each other); she knew I am secretly obsessed with my hair since 2005. After her salon event, she handed me samples from Pureology.

Since I have sensitive skin (boring, I know!), I normally use baby shampoo and seldom condition my hair. This routine was formulated by my derma to avoid breakouts on my forehead, but made my colour-treated hair look deep fried and frizzy!
essential-repair-systemPureology, the #1 colour care brand in the USA is 100% vegan and has AntiFade Complex and ZeroSulfate formulations. After using the Essential Repair variant for a couple of days, I initially noticed that my hair was undeniably soft and no remarkable bumps on my forehead so far! A real promise for my sensitive skin since it has mild cleansing system, with no added salt, and derived from coconut, corn and sugar. I just hope in due time, since the product is a bit pricey, local distributor will also offer the Pureology Promise: Long Lasting Hair Color or Your Money Back.

The waste management system does not end there; Pureology uses recyclable materials for their containers and printed with soy ink. Really a sweet piece!

So don’t waste another time stressing out Sis, be an Earth Angel too!

Pureology is now available in all Azta Urban Salon branches: Eastwood City, Katipunan, Alabang Town Center and Robinson’s Metroeast and other leading salons in Metro Manila.
